about

I find self promotion to be difficult and perfectionism to be crippling. So the notion of promoting something far from "perfect" is a daunting one to me, but hear me out.
~~~
I just released these 4 albums/overgrown EPs on all major platforms today {10/19/2020}. Each is comprised of 5-6 meandering, minimal tracks, which would be better named "explorations" or "studies" than "proper songs" (whatever that means).
~~~
These studies (or "sketches" as I have elected to release them as) are a half decade's worth of my habit to record slow, repetitious instrumental passages as a method to unwind from my day or week. Some were authored more intentionally, or have been used by a friend or family member in a project or in their personal library of songs, but for the most part these have been shared either very sparsely or not at all.
~~~
I do not consider the majority of these songs to be completed. They lack polish in areas, repeat for far too long on one motif, or are reruns of another earlier sketch with a slight tweak or progression. In general, they are out growths of my deep inner desire that whenever it hears a passage of music that moves me but only lasts for 30 seconds thinks "What if that went on for 7 minutes?"
~~~
But I do think that they're finished. They've been sitting on a metaphorical shelf for long enough because I have my idea of what they are and what they can do. Time to get them out into a broader space and let other people decide what they find them to be and all that they discover they can do.
~~~
I have more polished releases upcoming, and I'll speak on those soon. For now, check these out and I hope that one or two might catch your ear as something with a use or a meaning.
~~~

Much love,
Ethan
